SMD Resistor Code Calculator (3, 4 digit, EIA-96)

Convert SMD resistor codes such as 472, 1002, 4R7 or 01C to a value. Supports 3 and 4 digit codes, R decimal notation and EIA-96.

How it works

SMD resistors carry a short printed code instead of color bands. In a 3 digit code the first two digits are the value and the last is the number of zeros (472 = 4.7 kΩ); in a 4 digit code the first three digits are the value. The letter R marks the decimal point (4R7 = 4.7 Ω), and two digits plus a letter is an EIA-96 precision code.

How to read it

The first digits are the value (47), the last digit is the number of zeros (2): 47 × 10^2 Ω. A 3-digit code is usually a 5% resistor.
