The L293D is a motor driver integrated that can drive two DC motors or one stepper motor bidirectionally. It has internal protection diodes for each channel. It has a motor supply voltage between 4.5V and 36V and a continuous current capacity of 600mA per channel. Since it offers lower current capacity compared to L298N, it is preferred in projects using small and light motors. It offers a practical solution in the prototyping phase thanks to its direct use on the breadboard.
